What this phone does well is cameras, high quality screen, and feature completeness. The Sony photovideo pro software works well with the Zeiss lenses. The headphone jack and toolless SDcard slot are also a plus. The compatibility with PS4 controller is also a plus, I hope to see an update to the PS5 controller soon. That said there are some things that can be done better. First is the models and feature separation, the Xperia 1ii Pro has 5G antennas, 1ii non pro has wireless charging, and 5ii has the high refresh rate screen. Why Why separate these key fratures It makes no sense and is very frustrating. The 219 aspect ratio has to go, most apps and media are in 169 and the narrowness of this screen works against it big time as black bars, stretching start to pop up more and more, it also shrinks space available in the phone body for battery. The screen also isnt bright enough and will be overpowered in sunlight. The flash is also pretty weak and struggles to light up low light shots. The front facing speakers are also subpar. While they do direct sound towards you the drivers are different from most downfiring speakers and lack the same bass and volume, much like a cheap laptop speaker, I recomend using a down firing speaker with forward facing ports in the next iteration. The HP jack while a very welcome feature would be better on the same side as the USBC port for horizontal two hand use. The finger print reader is in the most annoying place possible. Whenever I just want to look at notifications, I accidentally unlock the screen and have had a few close calls with fingerprint verified purchaces, it would be better off underdisplay or on the back of the phone. A sound equalizer would be nice to have in an update. It would also be helpful to have the pickup gesture go to the lock screen instead of the AOD. More customization options and factory enabled root access would be nice as well.

Price was questionable. But well worth it once received best sound Ive ever heard. DSEE ULTIMATE is far better than DSEE HX hires audio upscaling from all sources as visual comparing bluray to 4K UHD with DSEE HX as bluray phone is a bit tall, I prefer Xperia xz2 compact size. ALSO touch is a bit annoying when trying to click things near the corners. cameras and alpha technology is well worth the cost. A small taste of alpha cameras capability ONLY REAL COMPLAINT is no name brand accessories, cases and tempered glass. I prefer Caseology case over Spiged because it looks are better balanced. ALSO like everyone in USA just waiting for a 5g compatible XPERIA phone. 5G is not, nor should be even considered when buying smartphones right now

Very fast, great battery life, feels great to hold, excellent display, great camera. Only real issues are the fingerprint reader being a bit finnicky but Ive probably set it up wrong and the lack of Otterbox cases for the phone.

So after 5 or 6 months of ownership good and bad experiences. the battery is totally not adequate runs down easily in five or six hours thats a big minus and to be sarcastic I wish they would make these phones out of ice so they would be a little bit harder to hold on to without having to buy some kind of container. the main reason I bought this phone is it was not made in China. I did not need the unusable camera options.way too much hype over camera in telephones as far as Im concerned the clarity of the screen is excellent the size is acceptable I never have been totally happy with all the phones that Ive had relating to the onoff buttons volumes etc seems like they cannot get it exactly right, Im not even sure what exactly right would be. its kind of strange you have to pick up this phone in such a way that you dont touch it in places thats obviously with all of them, its kind of an ironic oxymoron concern with smartphones. The speakers are loud and relatively clear the actual telephone has quirks in the software but the sound is good. For a phone that cost this much its really disappointing that it would have quirks in the software of the actual telephone part of it just drives me nuts, these companies. This phone like most phones Ive had have nonsense software or bloatware installed, I look more out of the Japanese than this even though it was probably made in Thailand or Indonesia or somewhereAs far as bh is concerned I have to give them a two or three because this phone was not delivered in a timely fashion. I guess the best thing I like about this phone its not made in China.

Excellent high end phone. Beautiful OLED display, excellent camera with a 70 mm optical zoom, 16 mm wide angle and 24 mm normal Zeiss lenses all with excellent resolution. The professional photo mode has adjustability for every photo parameter. Picture quality as good or better than iPhone and Pixel 5. Sound quality is superior without headphones. Will tune practically every radio frequency with good reception. Videos are smooth at 1080p. Headphone jack is a plus. Overall build quality very high with gorilla glass front and back. Pleasing form factor and nice to hold in the hand. Rivals the Samsung S20 without the bloat wear. Screen brightness slightly less than the Samsung.

Pros Great battery lifeCons No wireless charging

No matter how many times Sony says that this is a compact phone, its still big, definitely too big for me and I am a man with fairly long fingers. And the 219 aspect ratio is weird and in my experience most apps are not suited for it. I think its only good for gamers and film connoisseurs.Fortunately, my 4.6inch Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact still works quite well. It is my saviour on the mobile phone market. Im waiting for a Sonys real flagship compact phone.

Phone looks good works fine, battery is good and got it on sale which was a bonus

For the price I paid it is fantastic value. It has a really good camera especially if you use the Pro mode. The screen very good with realistic, not over saturated colours. Nice to have headphone jack and able to add an sd card. Be sure to use a micro sd usxc type at least v30 class 10 for recording 4k video

I love the feature they have called Battery Care, which increases the phones batterys lifespan from 2 years, to 3 years if kept active at all times. i keep this feature on and it restricts charging to 90 which will indeed increase the battery health and lfiespan. the phone battery lasts as usual at 90 anyway. so its very little sacrifice for an extra year of not having to replace the battery. good stuff. i love the camera apps too. Not to mention, Headphone jack, very, very convenient. i use it all the time for my KZ earphones.

Its a great deviceSony knows how to make a balanced android smartphone.Despite being in this market for several years sony phones are made like as if theyre new to smartphone worldBrands like xiaomi, hauwei are not been in smartphone world from many years than sony yet they make best phones and gives best of the best you can get in smartphone for the same price.Sony wants to be unique which is a good sign but we need best unique sony phone not the one despite being unique still misses a lot that are required by user in a smartphone
thormentor –
It didnt came on the original box and had one little scratch on the screen but apart from that everything works well.

Was looking forward to this phone for a long time and it has totally lived up to my expectations. I hate notches, cutouts, teardrops, etc, so the Sony phones caught my fancy. The top and bottom bezels are even smaller than my Pixel 2 XL and that 219 ratio feels so good in the hand. And that 120hz screen is so buttery smooth Love the nearstock Android, 3 different and phenomenal camera sensors, and I like the side fingerprint reader better the rear readers, although not better than front readers.Three complaints, although I compromised since I knew it going inNo wireless chargingNo USband 5G antennaOverpriced compared to other flagships of similar specsOverall a great phone. No regerts
Luke –
Pros Camera is really good especially if you want to tweak settings etc. Screen is pretty good and the 120hz is very nice. Very snappy and responsive. SD card slot and headphone jack is very useful to have. Would recommend for photographers.Cons The aspect ratio is annoying in some apps. Chrome is near impossible to use landscape. It would be great for certain situations if you could put the phone into a 169 mode and have black bars.Dynamic vibration is a terrible featureBattery life is average.Thumbprint reader on the side works well but also acts as the lock button. Strange design decision as it locks and unlocks the phone at the same time and the phone gets confused as to what you want it to do. The max screen brightness isnt enough when outside. The phone sometimes struggles when streaming music and podcasts.

Finally upgraded from Xz1, dont regret it at all. Needs a bit of tweaking but all in all a fantastic phone.
Frances –
Pros Battery life is great. Large internal storage space means that it operates smoothly. It is compact in size, which means that I can use it with one hand, without even using its one handed setting.Cons It is very slippery it will slide off of almost any surface. Also, the squarer form of previous Xperia phones made them more distinctive and easier to use e.g. they would stay put in a simple phone stand.
abbottmc –
Easy to use, a very good replacement for an older Sony Z1, apps automatically transferred from the old mobile when the old sim inserted into the new phone. Data transfer quick over 5G network and best of all battery lasts all day .

Im a Sony guy and I also spend a ton of time on my phone. Heres my takeProsGood battery lifeQuick processorVery little bloat wareLove the head phone jackVibrant screenDual Sim. This isnt talked about enough but this is one of the reasons I bought the phone and its very convenient. Different spots I travel to have different coverage and this saves me from having 2 have 2 phones.ConsCamera is only okay. Not as good as my old Pixel 2XLFinger print scanner is mediocre. Usually locks out after 23 times and I have to enter my pinPrice is way high for the features and qualityIf it werent for the dual sim capability, I would not have bought the phone at this price. Good quality, just a few issues.

Fingerprint constantly fails and becomes frustrating. Even registered 1 or 2 fingers twice hoping to fix the issue but no such luck.

I bought this new Sony phone after having the Xperia XZ1 Compact for around 2 years and was ideally looking for something compact again. I was a little unsure about whether this would meet my needs as the screen size was 6.1 vs 4.6 however Sony have worked their magic and despite the larger screen size still feels great in my hand for the general size. The screen is a lot longer but because it is narrower, it is very user friendly. The camera is excellent quality while the 120hz refresh rate for the screen is nice and smooth something I did not think I needed but definitely makes a difference on the day to day interaction. There are also lots of handy features I have noticed such as a one handed mode, and various swipe functions and one that is really good is a battery preserving mode. This allows you to set what the phone charges up to if you leave it over night so it doesnt over charge and damage the battery, or another option is to set your usual wake up time and the phones charges until then. The camera quality is amazing, and as Sony produce a variety of other tech products such as TVs, headphones , soundbars, cameras and games consoles, they have been able to apply of their tech and expertise into this product. Having expandable storage is also a massive plus so you dont run out of space, while there arent that many apps preinstalled ensuring you have more space to download what you want and use the internal space how you want. Headphone jack while not something I use is nice choice to have. The phone is slippery but that doesnt detract from it. Not enough people would consider Sony but after looking at other reviews and wide variety of awards its won, I am very pleased I went for this

Cons too slippery.

Pros 120hz display, Japanese build qualityCons Fingerprint on power button is sometimes annoying due to the fact that when you try to just turn on the screen without unlocking it with a finger thats not registered it counts as an attempt to uncllock the and disables fingerprint unlocking,

nice phone but not for me too narrow, text too small and on screen keyboard tiny

Ive had my Xperia 5 II for almost a week and Im generally very happy with it. Here are my pros and cons with itPros Close to stock Android experience with great integration with Googles ecosystem like Google Assistant Beautiful, vibrant 120 hz screen with no notches or hole cutoutfs Perfect 6.1 219 size I like the phone is narrow and this is good for multitasking mode Great and powerful vibration motor I especially like the dynamic vibration which uses the vibration motor to add extra base to media sounds music, movies, etc Fingerprint reader Ive tried backmounted and under display fingerprint readers and the sidemounted fingerprint reader is the one that feels the most natural to me. Its also very accurate and responsive. All day battery SIMSD card tray that can be removed with a fingernail no need for a SIM tool True frontfacing stereo speakers with equal volume from both the top and bottom speakers Headphone jack which is rare in phones these daysCons Night photography is abysmal, even in the Photo Pro app. Sony needs to add a night mode through a software update. Daylight photos are a little soft for my liking in both the stock camera app and Photo Pro compared to other smartphones, especially coming from the Alpha mirrorless camera universe which have notoriously sharp lenses Selfie camera is incredibly soft, even after turning off the soft skin effect. You cant use the selfie camera in the Photo Pro app. No 5G capability in the United States although 4G coverage is still pretty good and fast for me Poor timing and marketing from Sony. I heard about this phone in September and only got it in my hands in December. Not many of my friends or family have heard of this phone or were aware that Sony was a serious maker of smartphones. Sony needs to do a better job of marketing their phones and shipping them shortly after announcing them.

Pros 120hz refresh. Amazing camera. Loverly design. Very comfortable to hold
Leonardo –
I can not overstate how much I like the Sony Xperia 5 ii.1. The combination of Sonys trademark 219 aspect ratio with a slightly smaller 6.1inch display compared to the larger Xperia 1, makes for a pleasantly narrow phone that fits in the hand nicely without feeling cramped to use.2. Head phone jack included so you can charge the phone while listening to music at the same time.3. MicroSD storage expansion.4. Option to have a second SIM Card included.5. Plenty of battery life to get you through the day, and then some.6. The camera and its controls give a solid camera performance.7. The dual frontfiring speakers feature Dolby Atmos. The overall sound quality is excellent for a phone.8. Option for a 120Hz refresh rate. The Sony Xperia 5 II has a lot going for it. Its a powerful handset, offering a compact form with a great display including that faster refresh rate thats desirable for some and great audio too.Its pretty good as a phone for gaming, too, coping with high demands, offering reasonable battery life, and with some nice additional features to support gamers, like screen recording.

I bought this phone on black Friday, and I am so glad that I didAs someone who enjoys taking photos, I can say that the cameras are superb in both low light and daylight conditions all three of them. Photos are crisp and sharp and the colours are realistic, even more so when you toggle the Creator Mode in the display settings.Films and TV shows look great on the 219 OLED display, and I advise that you turn on the 120hz refresh rate makes everything look super smooth, especially when playing games. With 8GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 865 chip, apps load fast and the phone is quick to respond, and its great that you can expand the 128GB storage with a micro SD.And finally, the phone feels super premium with the glass back and metal frame, and even though it is quite long, it is comfortable to hold and it easily fits in my pockets with a case on.This is a great phone and so far I think its well worth the money.
Nina –
Pros Exceeded my expectations with functionality and battery lifeCons Took a while to work out the right app to use to transfer everything from my old phone. Price was steep, especially after it was reduced by 30 percent the day after I bought it

ProsGorgeous phoneSlim, easy to hold3.5mm headphone portCapabletogreat rear cameras with some patienceResponsivefast processorFingerprint sensor was super fast and accurateConsAbysmal frontfacing cameraTons of bloat softwareunused applicationsSlow chargingI really wanted to like this phone a modern, moderatelysized flagship, great on paper cameras, with a 3.5mm headphone jack. But the annoyances were too great to overcome. The biggest pain point was the frontfacing camera that ALWAYS applied some sort of skin softeningbrightening filter even when that setting was turned off. There are plenty of forumsthreads noting this issue, but its not something Sony has plans to fix. I dont take a lot of selfies, but this was a constant commentcomplaint during my COVID video chats with friends and family. This is something that I dont have to deal with in a phone that costs less than 13 the price Pixel 4A. I shouldnt have to deal with this in a flagship. Additionally, coming from a Pixel 2 and 4A, I was surprised by how many apps came preinstalled and could only be disabled not uninstalled. I also spent more time than I wanted with the phone plugged into the charger. It seems to top off much more slowly than other phones I use.Outside of that, the phone performed exceptionally. Fast performance, plenty of ways to customize your experience, beautiful screen. Its in my opinion the best looking phone in the market today. I just couldnt get over the front facing camera.

Im extremely unhappy after waiting a week, without any phone, I received this to only to discover that its not compatible with Verizon, the only carrier with reliable coverage in my mountain area. This should be in the description
