I bought this 870 Evo 250GB internal SSD drive to replace the lower capacity SSD that came with my Dell Inspiron desktop computer. The old SSD was starting to flag errors and I figured Id better replace it before it failed completely and took everything with it. I was somewhat nervous about replacing a Windows C drive. Id never done anything like that before, but Samsungs Data Migration software made it super easy. I was able to use the Data Migration tool, along with a SATA IIItoUSB cable to make an exact image copy of my old SSD data onto my new Samsung SSD before I took the old SSD out and put in the Samsung SSD. I was very unsure that it would work, but it did The tool made an exact copy of my old SSD drive, including all the partitions, and I didnt lose a thing. I then took apart my Dell computer, pulled the old SSD out and put the Samsung SSD in, which turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be. The drive just clips in with no screws. After cycling power on the PC, it booted up just fine with the Samsung SSD and everything is exactly the same. Samsung also provides a nice utility called Samsung Magician that lets you perform tests on your SSD, measure performance, encrypt it if you want to, or overprovision it. It isnt quite as plug and play as everyone makes it seem. The migration software SHOULD be great, but it doesnt always work as easy as 1,2,3. However, the migration software is NOT the product itself. So, for that reason it still gets the 5 stars. The SSD is lightning quick and my PC went from 1 minute2 minutes start up, to less than 20 seconds start up. It was the only thing I changed. From an old hard drive to this new SSD, and my computer is lightning quick. Thank you Samsung

Easy install. These seem to be good drives. Win 10 went right on and working well. Will see how long it lasts. The only thing I liked about spinny drives is you usually got indication of failure change in sound, slow startup, clicking…. Not so with most SSDs theyll just QUIT

These drives have been installed by me for over 3 years. In whatever I installed them in they work. I tend only to install in Dell HP ASUS Acer systems. A simple note is that if your machines are OVER 7 years old this is not the drive for your system compatibility and SATA III full compatibility. If your system was not designed for Windows 7 or 8 This is not 3 the drive for you. First thing to do BEFORE you install this drive in your system DO THE BIOS update DO THE FIRMWARE update. Load the newest version of Windows. If you do CLONE the drive from old to new you MAY have problems, with the Samsung EVO series I have learned that they do better with a NEW Windows 10 Load. If you DO NOT want dilemma with a SSD drive get a Samsung EVO

This drive really brought a three year old used laptop I was setting up for a friend with an abysmally slow 1TB hard disk to life. Previously it took over a minute to enable the start button after login to launch apps and very long to open most apps and after it. Clocked a win10 feature update at over 5 hours. No the drive did not fail any SMART tests, it was just a crappy slow OEM drive.Afterward, it took under a second to where I could use the computer and had near instant app loading.

Quality drive as usual. I highly recommend the 860 EVO to anyone with an aging laptop that is still running an old school spinner, hhd. Itll be a game changer in the way of performance boost, especially if you have never used a machine with an ssd. If you have an available m.2 port then go for the 970 EVO. Its even faster than the SATA 860 I have purchased several of these over the passed few years and have had great luck with them. I also have several 970 EVO Plus and recently picked up three 870 EVO. Jury is still out on the 870s as I have not installed them yet and benchmarked them should get around to that soon.

Was thinking of getting an M.2 card , but why The SSDs are blistering fast , plus I would lose 2 sata ports on my Z97 board if I did . What a difference. My Dell i5 laptop boots in less than 30 seconds and runs all my apps so much faster. I use this laptop to teach with and usually have multiple power point presentations open. Those presentations used to take a while to load, now they are up in 5 seconds. MS Outlook loads and runs much much faster. Over all I would say I have an order of magnitude more speed. The laptop now can run Fusion 360 3D CAD and PCB sofrware with decent response were before it was just too sluggish to use.

I usually buy Samsung 500gb ssds for my system drives as I only run my OS and do not need more than 500gb of space. I use 4 NVMe M.2 ssds srtipped as RAID 0 for my video filesLast month I bought some off brand SSds for 10 less and had all sorts of issues with them.. My advice is to pay a bit more for the Samsung and feel confident that you have a quality drive.

Its a good backup SSD. I use it for games because I cant put an M.2 on this pc until a new motherboard. But for now, its faster than my WD SSD by a little and its good space for the price. Fits flight sim, gta 5, and a bunch of other big games I play and loads them all fast and fine.

Samsung makes the best SSD drives, in my opinion at least. This is my 3rd. Easy to install. Just have to remember to assign a drive letter to it for it to show up in your PC file directory. Reasonably prices as well and getting cheaper as NMe drives have made this an older technology.

Bought a pc in January and the 250 gb ssd went out within 3 12 months. Bought this ssd on sale and was an awesome value. Took me a few hours to get everything up and running as this was my first time ever installing an ssd. Once it was up and running, my computer boots up in 30 seconds. Overall the SSDs are very good so far. My Cons comments are not really cons, they are the learning process I experienced. I would sincerely recommend these SSDs. Use the downloadable Samsung software and purchase a USB 3 adapter, as long as you have a USB 3 port. I purchased a USB 3, 4 outlet port card for my Desktop a while back another good choice, saves transfer time. Bottom line my old Desktop is now a little faster and my Laptop is significantly faster. P.S. I personally dont like the hybrid SSD and HDD. The 1TB SSD is a good fit for my needs, everything is in one place.

This is the fourth Samsung SDD I have bought for myself, and I have bought several more for clients. I believe that it is the best available, both by specs and reviews. I recommend installing the Samsung Magician software to monitor and optimize your drive. An SSD is the best way to improve performance, especially on an older computer. Be sure to overprovision your SSD. Overprovisioning improves performance and increases the life of the SSD.

Great internal SSD. Installed into an ageing desktop and now Windows starts up so much quicker approx 30 secs to start up and get through log in screen on a 7 yr old processor, compared to around 45 mins previously it generally runs like a newer PC. Not as fast as an M.2 SSD my old motherboard didnt have the slot for one but is definitely a step up from the old HDD. Actual formatted capacity is closer to 460GB but still plenty of space for programs I keep files, docs and data on the old HDD. Doesnt come with a SATA cable and JL sadly dont stock so had to get from elsewhere in order to use my PC didnt have a spare. Should keep me going for a couple more years at least, without having to spend hundreds of on a new PC

I have been using Samsung SSD drives for a number of years now and theyve always been great drives. This drive is no exception. I initially, I did a lot of research before deciding to go with Samsung. Being a music producer, I need something that I can trust will hold up and Samsung SSDs are what chose.Note Bear in mind that any new SSD drive will be unformatted and you will need to deal with that yourself so do your homework before buying a new drive. If you are replacing your main OS drive, you will need cloning software and a usb cable made specifically to attach your new drive to your computer while cloning the drive in your computer. Free cloning software is available online such as, Macrium Reflect Free, which Ive used successfully many times. You wont need cloning software if you are going to use this drive as an additional data drive but you will still have to partition and format the drive using your onboard OS. Google it. Its easy

I bought one of these so I can use it for my games that I know would benefit from the extra performance, games like Arma 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, GTA 5.Arrived with 2 days and I removed my games off my old SSD, powered down removed all drive put this in its place. Powered up PC Windows 10 found the drive but I still had to enable the partition which you can do by Right Clicking Computer Manage Disk Management. The drive will show up as unallocated just right click on this drive and format the drive, leave everything that it shows numbers wise this is the partition size. Unless you want to split the drive in two and you know what your doing but this is a 1TB 9xxGB gaming drive, quickly formatted and started redownloading all my games and was up and running within 2 hrs like nothing happened.

Its makes my rig SO FAST The latency of using it for daily use, work, and some some light gaming is imperceptible I chose these because they were also on sale Its a great product and was on sale What else do you needI first setup my RAID in the BIOS. Overall the product is great and was shipped on time. The only con stemming from my particular set up. If anyone else happens to have this issue, the driver used is a Standard SATA ACHI Driver from Microsoft Date 6212006 10.0.19041.906 . The newer driver was causing the problems, it was installed with a nov 2020 win10 usb install. Reverted to the older driver and all the problems went away. The internet had claimed that newer SSDs have problems with older motherboard chipsets. The previous evo 850 had worked with the newer driver. 1010.

Good lord this thing is an absolute rocket shipGiven the price of comparable SSDs on the website I cannot see how you could justify buying any other 2TB SATA drive for gaming. Its objectively faster than everything else and is only 10 more at the time of posting than the commonly recommended budget option, the Crucial MX500, which it flattens.The Samsung Magician software is actually a nice touch too. Load it up, turn on rapid mode, reboot, then take the software off startup and youll never have to see it again unless you specifically need it.Get yourself one.

This is my second Samsung drive, and the first 500MB. The first drive, bought years ago, was painfully expensive. While the price has gone up on this one, it is still so cheap that there is no reason to buy spinning platters in this size class. It transformed a pokey, Celeron laptop into a not pokey Celeron laptop. As an aside, it works with Linux.

Great price. I had never replaced a drive before, but learned how to take old HP Desktop apart on YouTube and easily installed this SSD in old hard drive slot. This drive is much smaller than a mechanical drive and fortunately old screws fit new SSD case holding it in place. Be prepared to get screws to fit SSD in case your existing screws are not compatible. Also computer started Windows installation automatically, presumably from a Bios copy.

My hard drive was basically begging for death by the time I got this SSD, so I was worried that data transfer would be a headache, but it was really simple with Samsungs data transfer tool. If you plan on transferring data from an existing drive, make sure you pick up a SATA cable if you dont have an extra I got a SATA to USB cable for about 5 and that did the job. This drive is also lightning fast compared to the HDD I had before it.

Buy a bunch and toss them into a raid0 array for amazing results. You can saturate a dual channel controllers 6gbps bw even at 9.6 on a 3rd gen slot with 8 of these in raid 0.No dram cache runout. Its all write performance, and it is amazing.

This SSD benchmarked for me at 550570MBs read and write The samsung data migration software was easy and took me about 1.5 hours to transfer 500gb from my HDD to the SSD. Love this new SSD drive. Installation was easy using Samsungs free data migration software. I replaced my C drive and I didnt have to mess with windows 10 licensing or anything like that. It cloned my old drive. I did pull the cables from the old one once cloned and moved the new ssd to be first in line on the cables in the computer before powering on. It booted up fine and made a night and day difference in speed.

I have several Samsung SSDs, all EVO series starting with the 850s, 860s, and this is my 1st 870. My other EVOs were all 500GB and I installed them into similar computer systems I built for family members.After a few years with the Samsung EVOs on my personal PC and a few family members I decided to just stick with them. This 250GB is for a family member who just wants to browse the web and hates the long loading times to start up Windows and shut down as they only Power the PC On when they use it, otherwise its off to save electricity in the home.

Im a big fan of Samsung SSDs. Ive been using them for several years and have had great results. One of the nicer features much to my surprise is the software utility, Samsung Magician. I typically do not use the management apps that are included with most PC devices because they are nearly always of little value or add unnecessary resource drain. Magician, on the other hand, provides some fantastic features. The most impressive of these features to me is the Rapid Mode. Its sort of like a RAM disk but works differently and wow does it speed up drive operations, for a single Samsung SSD drive only though.

I have been slowly changing older SSD to all Samsung SSD. This one is replacing a failed 500GB Crucial. The one issue with SSD I guess there is no warning. The crash was about at 5 years on 75 max filled drive and my first SSD that created pain. The Crucial would not repair so I did not clone as I usually do. Not having a cloned drive caused much pain. One just does not realized all the little apps that get accumulated even on a PC.I hope this Samsung gives some notice when it decides to fail but I am trying to stay under 50 to hopefully prolong life. I give it 5 starts not because anything special about this particular one but that my 2 other 870 EVO all seem to be doing well and 1 getting close to 5 year mark.Final note Best Buy did do a price match with Amazon and there was a significant difference at the time which was a surprise. Usually they are pretty close, with Best Buy winning due to instant gratification. The match was an easier process than I expected.

The readwrite speeds vary depending on the hardware it runs on. Mine is used to replace my PS4s internal drive to give it that extra muscle for those pesky long loading screens. Its not as fast as an M.2 for sure, but in the end, having more time to interact with an interface is a lot better than picking up my phone and watching a short YouTube video while the next instance begins to load.

If you have an old spinning HDD, changing it to an SSD is the single best upgrade you can do for speed and responsiveness. I upgraded an HP laptop that was about 10 years old and its probably faster now than it was new. I also put a 1TB version in my Mac about 5 years ago and its still going strong and super fast. Ive installed lots of SSD drives over the past few years and my go to brands are Samsung, WD and Intel in that order. Ive yet to have a Samsung SSD drive fail on me and they almost always perform very close to what the specs say or better. The Samsung Magician software is pretty light on resources and helps you tune the system, benchmark the drive and update the firmware, if there are any updates. If I can find them on sale, I almost get the Samsung first. They are usually priced a little higher than some competitors, but they are outstanding, in my humble opinion.

This is one of the best ssds for the price and lower than other stores. Boot time improved from 2.5 minutes to less than 30 seconds to stable and usable Windows 10 pro. Total time to swap 2 hours including cloning the old drive, will need to have a dock for cloning. For a desktop if replacing a 3.5 HDD you will need an adapter if the case doesnt have 2.5 mounts, for a laptop it is a straight swap. Shipped fast and received earlier than promised.

I was expecting something a bit heaver with more absorbing packing material. So if it passes the post office test it has to be durable. I plugged it in and was up and running after copying over my system drive. I mounted it in a 3.5 adapter because did not want to use the floor of the computer case. I would always choose SSD or M.2 OVER HDD.

Highly recommended. This drive improved boot up time. It used to take about ten minutes, now all of 2 minutes. The frame rate in VR has also drastically improved. The Samsung data transfer utility worked flawlessly. Love this drive so much after installation, I bought another one 15 minutes later and got rid of my HD altogether.

This is the second 870 that I have installed and it is way better than the previous generation 860. It is looking like these drives originally came out in January 2020 and putting them up against the 860EVO there is a marked difference in performance stability right speed and boot ups. Was an easy install using samsungs software to transfer windows onto it. Now my pc boots up in 2 seconds as apposed to a regular hdd which takes more than 10x longer. Great for the price however i do recommend getting the 1tb version but i wouldnt say thats a fault with the product more a mistake on my part. I bought about a month ago and have not found any problems with it yet. Not really any cons to it as it is a great product.

Our computer is about 9 years old, it was custom built by PBTech. It ran perfectly, with no maintenance required until recently. We took it to the Hornby branch to see why it had started running slowly and they identified that the hard drive needed replacing. This SSD replaced my previously purchased Kensington which kept losing the MBR and lost connection to the MB on my laptop. Got the Kensington due to the low cost, but this was a reminder that buying cheap will cost you more. The Samsung 870 EVO is a solid hard drive excuse the pun, OS boots up fast and no disconnection from the MB ever since. This is really not a high price for such a quality drive, I should have gotten this from the start.

As with most of Samsungs SSDs this appears to be another great drive. May be my imagination, but it seems to run noticeably faster than its predecessor the 860 EVO of which I have several. Time will tell over the long haul, but for now Im very happy with it.

Constantly rising CRC errors, unless you disable Native Command queuing.May I simply say, this drive is often incompatible with many SATA controllers, UNLESS YOU DISABLE Native Command Queuing, which then cripples the performance of this and additional drives.Make sure you research your SATA controller online will work with these drives correctly before buying this to avoid disappointment.

At first i got a Kingston A400 downgrading from a 970evo M.2 so i can free up a slot thinking it would be good enough for a system drive. but then i realized the slow boot times and the system getting less responsive when a backup would be taking place. Got this and my boot times are alot better and my operating system is alot more snapper and responsive dont even notice a backup running any more.

However I had one Lenovo AIO pc that no matter what I tried the cloned drive would not boot . This SSD worked flawlessly with my Atomos Ninja V recorder. It was very fast and managed a variety of formats including ProRes RAW and ProRes LT with my GH5S camera. My HP laptop is 9 years old and compared to my desktop PC takes forever to start up and to open close programs. About 15 months ago I upgraded the HDD in my PC with a Samsung EVO 860 and the PC became a rocket so I recently decided to replace the old slow HDD in my laptop with an EVO 870. What a difference. Used to take about 2 minutes for windows and all startup programs to boot. Now it takes about 2 seconds for the windows logo to display and about 23 seconds for all to boot up. Installed easily. The samsung migration tool worked great and moved all my files off of my old mechanical HDD to this one. It was a little difficult to figure out how to get it to boot. What I ended up having to do was removing the SATA cable from the back of my old HDD and also the power from the old HDD. Connect that SATA cable to your new HDD and youll boot to it. Things are much more snappy.

I purchased this SSD after reading many reviews and finding the rati ngs OUTSTANDING. I am using a 10 year old Dell Inspiron with and Intel i7 and 8Gb ram. The hard drive was slowing down and was not large enough for todays programs.320Gb. It took less than 30 minutes to install and clone the new Samsung SSD PERFECT all the way. Startup is less than 10 seconds as compared to maybe 90 seconds, PROGRAMS fly and load so much quicker. Overall the Laptop runs quiet, cooler and battery lasts longer. I installed this to clone my operating system onto to increase startup speeds. I was not disappointed either. PC boots up in next to no time, and easy installation with Samsung Magician cloning software. Use this as my primary drive, and a 1TB hdd for files, photos, music etc. The 870 is the latest model ssd from Samsung. I Installed an 860 EVO 500gb on laptop aswell and again boot up speeds are amazing.

Using the Samsung Data Migration tool is very easy It took a couple of hours to clone my old HDD, swap the drives, and I was up and running. This drive is not fully compatible with AMD 600,700,800 and 900 series chipsets SATA Controller the whole range, i.e. SB710,750,790,SB800,860,890,SB900, 950 etc….There are many SATA controllers SAMSUNG will not work with. Do your research online before you buy, they are the one of the most incompatible drive out there, despite what they claimBasically SAMSUNG and INTEL seem to be hand in glove, leaving the rest of us with crippled drives due to disabling one of the best features of AHCI, or not noticing the problem and having a drive full of data errors with NCQ on.If you install it using AHCI mode on BIOS it gives constant CRC error rate increase I had 166 in 3 hours, others may get more or less but always increases a bit every hour, unless you DISABLE NCQ IN THE REGISTRY. Very pleased with this drive. Feel the price was very reasonable and the difference in my laptop is outstanding. I had to replace the hard drive which came with my HP because it was taking hardware errors. Because of this my PC had become very slow with constant hangups and getting progressively worse. It was to be expected that the speed of the PC would be like night and day with the new drive. However, I remember what my laptop was like when it was brand new and the speed difference with this SS drive is still dramatically faster. I would definitely recommend this drive.

Pros The device works fine but after a week I cannot comment on reliability.Cons The migration software from Samsung is limited, it will not migrate more than 3 partitions, and always seems to end with an error message. Free alternatives are available though which do the job, I used Clonezilla, which boots from a USB and faithfully clones the whole disc.

My HDD on my one x went out and it refused to boot up. After countless hours of troubleshooting I figured out the HDD was failing. Which is lasted about 4 hrs. So I looked up how to swap with ssd. And the difference is very noticeable. Faster downloads, faster loading times, and it feels like there more storage left after installing the Xbox os. Overall great I would buy this and put it in my pc to go with the 4TB HDD and 1tb ssd m2 that I have. But Ill grab a 2tb for that.

This new version of the long running Samsung EVO drives has been great so far. Theres not much noticeable difference in loading screens between my 970 evo NVME M2 drive and this SATA drive, which while not surprising, makes this seems a bit noticeably faster than my older generation samsung SATA evo drive.The packaging it comes in is decent for pc hardware and the Samsung Magician diagnostic software is useful and pretty well laid out.From what Im experiencing so far with this drive, and taking the reviews of it into consideration, its probably the best overall 1tb SATA SSD on the market for the money right now. Its one of the fastest SATA SSDs on the market and should be reliable. Its decently priced. Thumbs up.

I updated an older laptop at my shop with this drive and another 4GB of memory. What a difference. The machine boots in way less than 30 seconds, brings up MS Outlook and runs it much faster and just in general runs about 10 times faster than it used to. If you are using spinning drives, you definitely should consider this upgrade.

In brief, I bought the Samsung 870 EVO 2TB to replace my boot drive Samsung 850 Pro, 400GB, which was becoming crowded. Although I install most programs on my data drive, over time my c drive had become about 70 full. Using Samsungs Data Transfer app, it was simple shifting everything from my 850 Pro to the new drive. HOWEVER, this also included the partitioning of the old drive, which Id originally setup for a tripleboot capability Windows, Linux, and one other that I forget. No fault of Samsung, but it ended up taking much more time and effort to upgrade than it should have. Anyway, the new drive works fine, and I expect it will last at least another five years, which is enough time for me to figure out my upgrade path toward a completely new computer. I know there are much faster drives out there, but SATA III SSD is sufficiently fast for my purposes gaming, general computing.

IMHO this is the best 2.5 SATA3 SSD you can buy at this price point. I have purchased dozens of these over the last few years for inexpesnive upgrade to customer computers. It usually increases the system speed by at least 20 after a proper upgrade install. Its worth the price if you have an older system.

If you have visual impairments, such as myself, youll be frustrated by the Data Mitigation software provided for download from Samsung. It does not interface with Windows 10 Accessibility feature Ease of Access in the Settings Menu. The font is small and doesnt adjust with the Make Everything Bigger setting Settings Ease of Access Display. Nor does the program utilized Tab Stops. Without such simple accessibility features, it was difficult for me to use software. So, if you have impaired vision, save yourself the hassle and humiliation, and find a drive with ADA WCAG Compliant software. Failing to provide accessible software, Samsung clearly either doesnt want the business of disabled Americans, or believes we are to helpless to use computers. Either way, shame on you Samsung. Since you dont want my business, this will be the last Samsung product I buy.

I got this thing at 430. Id watched a video on YouTube, so I opened the box, put it in a USB2.5 inch case, and plugged it into the only USB V3.0,port on my laptop. Downloaded the clone software and installed it. Loaded it, the 1tb disc drive I had mapped cleanly to the 1tb ssd drive I bought, so I pressed go. 435gb transferred in 45 minutes or so. Powered down the laptop, popped out the old drive, popped in the new one. Done. Easy as adding RAM.

Switched my last two spinner HDDs for these updated SSDs and am 100 satisfied. they perform exactly as specs and i am 100 confident that they will last as the rest of my drives are also Samsung and as old as an 840evo still grinding away perfectly fine. This order was my 4th Samsung EVO 870. Although this disk is sold as an internal drive, you can buy a disk caddy enclosure and use it as an external drive which would be a much cheaper option than buying a dedicated external drive. I have a Mac and use the disk for a TimeMachine backup. All you need is to use the Disk Utility app and format Samsung to Mac OS Extended before starting to use it. I use a Ugreen caddy that has a movable top and I can swap disks easy without a need for any tools

I purchased this to upgrade an old laptop I bought in 2014.It had an old creaky mechanical hard drive that was really showing its age. Very slow.I cant say the process of ripping the old laptop apart to install this thing was easy, but I did manage to do it successfully. This drive was a little bit thinner than the existing HDD, so I had to fold up some cardboard to make a spacer for it to fit correctly in the housing. There are more legit ways to do this of course, but I managed to ghetto rig it.Now the old laptop is like brand new. Seriously it feels like a brand new machine. This drive is performing exactly as expected in benchmarks and really breathed new life into my laptop.

The hardware is very good, my wifes computer sped up substantially with the SSD. However the software made available with the drive is junk. I had to use 3rd party software to clone the HDD. The other app, which I have appropriately forgotten its name, was good for nothing and causing system problems, the solution, uninstalling the two pieces of junk.

I purchased this to upgrade the 5400 rpm spinner in my newer touch screen DELL laptop. What a difference… I timed it a few times before and after installation. I waited for the DELL window to appear then started the clock. The 5400 rpm took 150 seconds to get to the main screen to be able to click on a program then wait some more. The 870 EVO TOOK 16 SECONDS FROM THE SAME SCREEN. And once there you could click on a program and it would open without any serious delay. Im sure there are other SSDs out there that are good but after 5 years of building machines and upgrades Ive yet to have a Samsung fail. The Samsung transfer program works great, just remember your cloning from a slow drive to a super fast drive. It will take a while to clone. My 1tb took 1 hour 20 minutes. Not a fault of the SSD or the cloning program, remember that. Love it

I have always had a great experience with Samsung Storage and in fact have a 870 evo m.2 in my current build as well. Reliability when it comes to storage is very important and Samsung provides a solid solution.

Got the 870 evo 4 TB version for a system main drive in an old system that doesnt support nvme upgrading it from a 10000 rpm western digital velociraptor with a 64 mb cache and the result has been a massive improvement in system wide performance and taking the system load off of that spinning drive has made it a great extra storage drive. If you are running a spinning hard drive I highly recommend getting an ssd for your system drive and as of writing this my honest opinion is go with an 870 evo from Samsung its fast and its rock solid.

The claim that the 870 is faster might be true. My choice is the 860. I have had nothing but problems getting the 870 up and running. The Samsung data transfer program has failed EVERY time with the 870. Other software had to be used. Paragon did the job. I have many Samsung ssd drives, including the 850, 860, and now the 870. The 860 has worked flawless. The 870s have been a royal pain to get going.

I breathed some new life into my sisters 10 year old 64bit Toshiba laptop L745S4210 with this SSD installed with Windows 10. The laptop has been a lot more responsive and was able to boot up windows 10 much faster than I could blink an eye. At that time the laptop originally with a 580 GB HDD ended up slowing down to a point where it would no longer able to handle the tasks on windows 10. Now because of the Samsung 870 EVO SSD, I no longer have to see 100 usage on the task manager all the time like I did with the old HDD. Lets see how goes it for another 10 years with my sisters laptop after I upgrade her RAM and CPU.

Even on my wifes old 2013 laptop which had a 1TB WD Blue hard drive the old hard drive was paiiiiinfully slow, taking 3 minutes to boot into Win 8.1 despite defragmentation and heaps of free space. Obviously there was some stuff shed collected over the years which slowed it down, but as a 35 yrs experienced PC user Id turned off everything unnecessary in start up. No viruses ran Norton Security in the background and occasionally double checked with Malwarebytes. Was running Cacheman 64bit to maximise how it was set up. With the SSD now less than 30 secs to be ready to work from power off

Never been disappointed with Samsung SSDs Installed this one on an old Compaq 17 laptop. Latest Win10 Home. 4gb of ram… Yes I know need to install more ram. But the speed increase was from more than a minute to boot up to 45 seconds… The duplicating software was a no brainer. Just go get a coffee and then is already booted up.

One of the factors in buying this was being able to use the Samsung Data Migration tool, which only works with Samsung SSDs. Cloning to this drive was easy…and simple. After then physically swapping my old hard drive for this SSD, my machine seamlessly recognized this SSD quickly booted up now much quicker of course. FAST changed out the 1TB disc drive for this SSD, what a difference. It use to take 5 minutes to start my Hp laptop. Now 20 seconds or less. Great upgrade for about a hundred dollars. I heartedly recommend this drive,Fairly easy to clone and change out. Buy yourself a USB cloning kit,install the software, clone the existing drive to the new SSD then your ready to swap. Takes a couple of hours to clone, just be patient, let the do its work, I used EZ Gig, 30.You may want to look for a YouTube video on how to disassemble your LaptopPC its helpful. It took me about 30 minutes total. Process is fairly easy, look for hidden screws, do not rush or force.Process was so easy I did my wifes Laptop also, won a few points there.

The Samsung 870 Evo SSD is so much faster than a conventional hard drive with spinning platters. I added more storage to our desktop computer. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because Samsung no longer includes the screws to mount it. If replacing a current hard drive you can use your old screws, but when adding an additional drive you need to find the correct screws.

I cant attest to the longevity of this product but I have a Samsung 850 ssd in my main computer for 5 years so far and I would imagine this to work just as long if not longer. I had upgraded a workstation from old PC, intel core 2 duo, into a refurbishedused pc, gen 4 i7. That change was marginally better in terms of boot up speed or multitasking performance. But when I transferred all the data from the old HDD to the SSD, the difference was night and day. Barely a wait to Home Screen vs waiting between 30 sec to a minute. I had 48gb of data to transfer and it took approximately 23 hrs.

My Laptop performance was so bad it used to take minutes to boot up. Windows Explorer used to take seconds to show up. I replaced the mechanical HDD in my Lenovo laptop with Samsung 870 EVO using Samsung Data Migration tool to copy all the contents. I added this drive to my Alienware Aurora R11 for additional SSD space to install games. It was easy to install and runs fast and without any problems. You will likely also need an inexpensive SATA cable unless your case possibly came with one, the Alienware Auroras do not.

Copied over my C drive in about 4 hours and the booted right up, but much faster. Samsung tools made the transition quite easy. The only thing that was a little confusing was dealing with the backup partition on my C drive. But once I understood that I must allocate both partitions on the new SSD drive at the same time everything went smoothly.

I have more storage space to play with and applications run so smoothly. And to think I thought my computer was having an attitude problem. I guess it was my fault the whole time. Great SSD solid state hard drive. I am switching out all my hard drives to Samsung SSD. They are easy to install and have a data migration tool online you can install and it knows to copy from the old drive to the new SSD. This can be worrisome for knowing your cloning your drive in the right direction. No one wants to clone the blank drive to overwrite your data.

I have purchased several of these over the last couple of years to upgrade our church computers responsiveness. Each time Ive added the SSD users have commented how it feels like a new computer. Replacing as slow 5400rpm hard drive with an SSD does the trick. So weve been able to garner at least a couple more years of life rather than replacing the entire computer. Easy to use transfer software from Samsung. All you need is the connection cable.

This item is amazing. It is unbelievably faster than than the HDD that came with my computer. Super easy to clone the HDD to the SSD with Samgsungs software. Its done by plugging the SSD into the USB port on the computer, you need a SATA to USB cable for this. I got one for under 8. When done, unplug the SSD, open your computer, unplug the HDD, then plug in the SSD. I just laid the SSD on top of my old HDD as there was no storage tray for it, no big deal.

The only issue I have with it is the size of the drive vs the advertised size. It is advertised as a 500 GB drive but is in actuality 465GBs. As this is an SSD drive there is no reason the space to be less than 500GBs.That having been said, it installed without issue and was easily formatted and recognized by my PC.

i upgraded to this ssd from a kingston a400 240gb a budget ssd and even though both ssds are sata3, you can definitely notice the difference in boot time, loading times and overall snappiness of the user experience. i would definitely recommend this ssd for the price tag, you can even get it on sale i paid 70 for it, so its really worth the money
