An amazing recording device .Ive only had it less than 24 hours and already done my first multitrack recording on it .As a retired muso I wanted to put down some songs I do but with drums bass etc in them .This recorder lets me do all that and more .Easy to operate and understand and there are plenty of good reviews on youtube that explain things to you . Just make sure you watch a review for the H4n PRO and not the H4n . I can envisage having a lot of fun with this unit .Hint use rechargeable batteries Panasonic Eneloops if you can . 4 . Two in the recorder and two charged and ready when the others need recharging I used my ones for a solid 12 hours and they are still reading 3 bars Before I bought this I owned and still do the Zoom H2n an excellent recorder but it wont do multi tracking recording .The quality of sound from the H4n is remarkable .you wont be disappointed

I initially got a Tascam DR 20 to replace a very old zoom H4 and found it inferior quality in many ways. So returned it.Amazon were asking 40 more than Gak for a zoom h4 pro and didnt have any in stock. I had never used GAK before and was a bit weary I shouldnt have been excellent service it fine, delivered by DPD and on time with the option of picking a delivery slot.Will use them again.Oh and the new Zoom it fair better than the Tascam.

Well, the price I paid was ludicrously low 61, but after using it, I would have been happy to pay the regular 189 for it. I record HD video on my Sony RX M3 camera, feed that and the audio track from the H4N which is directly fed from my Roland piano into VSDC video editor Pro, split the audio from the video track, align the digital audio waveform with the cameras audio waveform, drop out the cameras audio, and Voila have perfect synchronized audio of far higher quality. Ive been using 4 different recording devices My Sony A7II, an audiotechnica external microphone, a Movo lavalier mic and a Panasonic Lumix. The sound quality of the H4n is amazing. Its like having equalizer and reverb automatically No echo shows up in the audio file even though the room is really big and open with a bad echo.

My application for this device is as a musician. That means I generally use it as a fastflexibleconvenient documenting tool. Having said that, it can be used to make professional soundquality recordings. It does sound excellent. Its power is awesome due to the many features from editing and a variety of sound format settings, recording modes, storage capability and smart, simple, easy to use user interface. I had to have both onboard microphones and XLR14 external inputs for my applications. This device satisfies. If you are a smart sound engineer this device can actually function as a stand alone professional recording system. In addition it comes with an LE Edition Cubase DAW and Mastering Software100 professional in the right hands. Record stereo or mono four track, bounce, add effects, mix, and master back to stereo. You can use the USB to dumpstorelibrary your files and folders onto your computer for cataloging and storage and then Import any file into Cubase or Wavelab mastering software for editing and further tracking. Amazingly it acts as a stand alone direct interfacesound card into your DAW so you can use its inputs and mics to record straight to your recorder. This item is often used by film and television people for field recording and podcasters for their productions. Its a little more money than some of its competition and well worth it. It is sturdy, strong, good grip material, weighty and has a very useful plastic case. It has a good built in speaker, but I recommend a cheap pair of flat response studio headphones with removable 14 adapter to go with it, so you can appreciated the great sound quality while in process.

Ive had mine since the came out and absolutely love it. I use it for podcasting on the go. I hook up 2 Dynamic Microphones to it and it is a complete in the field recorder for podcasting. Record my show and the take the sd card and upload to my laptop. Do any corrections and then export to MP3 or MP4 to be used anywhere.

The sound the H4n pro is able to capture is just magnificent. Its crispy, clean, and captures the deep rumble in a voice. The ONLY downside to this recorder is that it takes roughly 30 seconds to power up. Other than that, the built feels and looks professional, the buttons have a nice recoil, and the menus are easy to navigate.

After recording our bands practice sessions and live performances for several years using sub 100 recording devices and mobile phones we decided to purchase a higher quality recording device. The decision was difficult. There are many recording devices on the market with equivalent specifications and within the same price range. We read many online reviews for several months which compared the Zoom H4N Pro with numerous devices. We also searched for the best price and considered many retailers and online Auction sites including Amazon, Ebay and Alibaba. By chance, we stumbled across DJ Citys website and were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price. Purchasing from an online retailer in Australia was not an important serious consideration for us and we were prepared to accept the additional delivery time. This model Zoom recorder has been around for a while, likely because it is easy to use and very reliable. Even though recording into a mobile phone has become much easier, having a dedicated audio recording device has often been more reliable for me. No question of phone software versions, input jack adapters, having to delete photosvideos to make room for a recording…I would give this 5 stars except that the mic pres are a bit noisy when they are turned up for dynamic mics that are plugged in.

At the price the H4n Pro is capable of high quality recording. The battery life is short even if using high capacity eneloop batteries, its even shorter if using phantom power. The preamps have about 42db of gain, which is enough if using high output condenser mics. Startup time is very slow and recorder is picky about SD cards used. Build quality is very good, it does not feel cheap, except the battery door it feels flimsy.

Ive been a big fan of Zoom and have loved their H6 and F8 portable mixerrecorders, but Im a bit disappointed by this. The sound quality is definitely improved from the H6 much quieter preamps which should make me want to give it 45 stars but the layout of the buttons and the menu is just a bit less intuitive and easy to use than their previous recorders. It just a bit too awkward to use to make me 100 comfortable with it. Probably will be getting something different might even go back to my H6 even with the extra noise.Particularly bothersome is not having dials to turn for adjusting levels on the inputs. up and down buttons that have multiple purposes make you have to think and lose that critical quick reaction response.Definitely needs some minor changes to make it something Id recommend.

I have used plenty of other Zoom recorders and was always impressed by how intuitive they were to use. This thing is a nightmare to use. Even the simplest actions take endless menu trees to compete. You turn the volume up on track 1 and track 2 starts clipping. You turn the volume down on track 2 and track 1 is too quiet. You want to have the mic playing in both headphones You can do that if you arent using the Line In for a backing track. You want the line in for a backing track Well, say goodbye to balanced vocal track.Perhaps there are ways to set all of these things but its simply not intuitive which is something Ive come to expect from Zoom. This is the highfunctioning alcoholic of their product line. Sure, it shows up for Christmas dinner and get through the meal but youll be on pins and needles the whole time wondering when things are going to get needlessly confusing and difficult.

I bought this item as I was looking for a microphone to use with my DSLR camera. I am not a technophobe but thought a microphone was a bit limiting in its use. When I saw the Zoom H4n Pro I realised it was far more versatile and I would also be able to use it for recording meetings without the need of a camera. I also use it as a music player with the addition of headphones. The H4n Pro has a lot more features that I may never use but I would certainly recommend this product. The build quality is very good and feels robust.

if it aint broke done fix it. h4n pro has been around for years and still so useful and trustworthy. love the new black look. the h4n is a go to portable recorder for pro audio needs, can use 2 xlr ports, the on board mics, or all 4 simultaneously for a 4 track recorder, very convenient to have if you need pro external audio but dont need a big multi track expensive recorder and additional sound team to operate.

Exactly what I am looking for, preform excellently, but was really surprised to hear my voice and actually liked my voice for the first time, because I have always hated the sound of my voice. I now realize its been cheap recording devices thats been distorting the actual sound of my voice.

Great audio recorder. Many features for all types of recording. Sound quality is excellent. Only issue is the menu system takes some getting used to as accessing the features and various setups can be a challenge but is to be expected as a trade off for such a versatile product.

It is curious that I had read a number or rather negative reviews about the Zoom H4n. One noted a rubber coating on the case that would soften. Others complained about the complexity of operation. My own experience has been excellent. the rubber coating issue has been fixedthere is no soft rubber coating. Also, I find the operation of all basic functions to be extremely intuitive. The unit works well with internet conferencing tools such as WebEx.It is extremely good product.

The recorder works well once you have decoded the guide It would really help to have online guides for the likely settings to use for say, personal recording, small speaking group, solo instrumentalist etc. It certainly records to a far higher standard than our H1

This has been very helpful recording music for weekly meetings. I like the multitrack function and a few light editingprocessing features. Would be five stars if I could get it to work directly with Cakewalk via USB. Havent tried it yet with the included freeware.

Its a chunky thing and I was disappointed to find out that you cant record at 96khz as an audio interface nor can you use the mic and inputs simultaneously. Only the 2 inputs.So its best just recording to the SD card and copy the files later.

This is excellent, versatile recorder. I upgraded from the H1 which is still a good choice for many but Im glad of the extra features on the H4n Pro.The onboard mic is excellent I added a dead cat for outdoor use. Also works very well with external mics.Accessory kit that allows you to plug into AC is worth the purchase.Its a common critique, but it does take a while to come online when first turned on. This could be a problem but for the the moment Im trying to plan ahead and powerup with plenty of time to spare. I use a 32gb card, Im told using a smaller card speeds up process and I even 16gb should be plenty of storage assuming regular downloads to the computer.

this little unit offers a terrific upgrade to the original. The pre amps are clean offering pro level audio quality. If there was one thing I would like to see improved on this unit is the quality of the headphone amp, turning it up gives you a false sense of noise that the mic pre amps are not producing.

Great Portable field recorder for podcasting, field sampling, or interviews. Its only downside is no removable mics on the top so its fragile to drops. Great sound for built in mics. The XLR in outs have low noise as well and phantom power for condenser microphones.
