Pros It worksCons I got this phone because the battery died on my other Samsung after only 18 months I was recommended this model as it was supposed to have the same features as my old phone, but it doesnt. Whoever decided to shift the finger recognition to the back of the phone needs their head examining. It takes too many clicks now to switch from one app to another or even to get the thing to open. Email doesnt sync properly with Outlook on my laptop now as it used too. And I had to take out a threeyear contract instead of a twoyear one. All in all hugely disappointing. Dont bother getting this phone.

Pros I was hesitant to replace my S5 with this but glad I did. Its fast. Has a great camera. Fingerprint access easy to use. Latest Android. Good build quality. Nice feel in the hand. I love being warned about incoming rogue calls. I would not hesitate to recommend. Why buy the S when you can buy this ACons It uses USB C so I had to replace all my USB B charging cables at home one C cable came with it.

I bought this phone 3 weeks ago instead of another j7 pro or a j8, because this was recommended by the store as being faster and better battery life etc and have found I need to to keep it on power save mode constantly to get anywhere near the battery life of my j7 pro and it still falls short. Audio cuts out when playing music or videos. It only does it intermittently and cuts out for a split second, but it makes watching videos or listening to music very frustrating to the point where I dont bother once it starts doing it.Very disappointed with this 650 phone that cant even play music or videos properly the 2 main reasons why I purchased this phone.Reading online and this is a common issue with this phone.You dropped the ball Samsung, you should do a recall to fix your dodgy phone, or at least make sure this never happens with any other model that you sell.

I selected this model for a friend who didnt want to spend a fortune, set it up for her and was amazed at the features this phone has. Camera is excellent too.Cons Cannot comment on battery life at this stage as my friend has only had it a few days, but I honestly cannot find any negatives, video may not be as good as some the S9 apparently, but for normal use, videos still look fantastic.

Some people have indicated having issues with the fingerprint reader, but I personally have not had any notable problems with it myself. My prints are recognised immediately 99 of the time. I actually prefer the position of the reader on the A8 on the back as compared to the newer highend phones like the s10 I have always had problems with the reader on them. Only slight issue I do have to report is the onscreen keyboard. Sometimes after highlighting text to copy or delete, the keyboard fails to appear. Sometimes Ive had to rehighlight the text, other times the keyboard appears after some time. No issues with battery life. My only wish being that it had wireless charging capabilities but being a midend phone, such is understandable. Being a midend phone, I also wish phone cases were more readily available for it. So far I have not been able to find them in stores. I am going to have to source them online. The camera isnt as great as the topend phones like the s10, but that is also expected. If you dont use the camera much or require super HD quality, the camera will suffice. Love the size and lightweightedness. After having owned an s10, the A8 is a welcome change in terms of how lightweight it feels to hold it. I enjoy being able to operate it onehanded. Without a phone case however, it doesnt feel as ergonomically comfortable ie. no grip in hand or on surfaces. Do love that the sim card and micro SD card slots are in two separate compartments meaning you dont need to remove your sim if you only wish to swap your micro SD.

I got this with an Optus plan in Australia.I liked the midsize, the low weight, the display amazingly good, the amount of memory 32GB.I disliked the slippery case it WILL fall out of your pocket and you WILL drop it, the open USB port grit and lint WILL get in there. Mine fell apart mechanically after 3 months not replaced under warranty and the totally inadequate warranty if you only expect the phone to last 3 months the warranty is ok. For everyone else its not good.

Got this phone in October 2018.Love the Size, Feel, Features, Speed, Screen and Style of this phone. I had the S5 before this which was getting a bit slow. Couldnt justify the price tag of the S9 so went for the A8 and wasnt disappointed, Until…The Phone came with a clear case which offered little protection but I thought it would suffice until I managed to get something more secure Otterbox. The phone Specification stated a good strong Gorilla Glass screen which I thought would offer some degree of safety, I was wrong. My phone fell from my leg pocket onto concrete as I opened my car door and attempt to get out. The phone fell about 30cm and impacted onto the edge of the screen, not face down, just the edge contacted first and the screen completely shattered. The phone still worked ok so I obtained a quote from Samsung for repair .. 260 almost half the cost of the phone ..My new Otterbox case was waiting for collection from the Post office when the screen broke.. Typical I have the phone back now, after repair, and its working as good as new. lovely phone but needs a lot of protection… dont believe the hype about the Gorilla glass screen

Pros Battery life is amazing. Ive hammered it with social media, music, YouTube, Samsung health for my running. Notifications are spot on, they tell me my next departures from a train statio by just being there atvthe station The selfie camera is fantastic even in pitch black with the flash on, got some lot selfies with me and my wife on bonfire night. This phones is packed with features. I seriously cant get enough of it. I was initially going to get the Samsung S8, but they never had it in stock at the shop, so I did some research and this came up. Id say this was a better and cheaper choice.Cons The initial switch from iPhone to android but thats to be expected. I dont know if its the size of the phone or keyboard layout but I do make more typos. Thats the o my negative point so far.

Pros I love how fast the finger scanner is. It also has lots of memory which is great The speakers are quite loud to.Cons The only thing that annoys me a little is that the volume button and power button are next to each other and I accidentally press the power button instead of the volume. But its something i just need to get used to with the power and volume button being next to each other.

Easy to set up, copy apps etc across and to use. Really pleased with this phone. I had read all the reviews and was was worried about the battery life but it is much better than I was expecting. The phone is fast and takes great photos which was my biggest want and for a sensible price. I love Samsung phones so I wanted to stick with them thinking the A8 would be similar enough to my four year old A5 to make the transition simple. It was and it wasnt things have moved on a lot in four years as you would expect, but it was familiar enough and I must say although I still loved my old phone it was showing its age a bit. The A8 is easier to use and more intuitive. The camera and video are much easier and give excellent results. The only thing that made me nearly not buy it was the adverts bigging up the selfie lifestyle stuff

When I first got the phone in late 2018, I expected it to be ok, and when I unboxed it, I loved it If you held this in your hand in 2018, youd almost be fooled into thinking it was a 1,000 smartphone. It feels good in the hand, the glass back makes it feel premium, with the aluminum frame, and the exellent display. For a midtear or budget chip, 4gb of ram and with a 3,000 mAh battery, it was a solid device back then.But you see, that was back then, and this is now. The Galaxy A8 at least from heavy use is now slow, dies quickly even with low power mode turned on and I think that the speaker is now not as loud as it used to be. And now, to top it all off, if you own a Galaxy A8, you will not be getting Android 10, which also means you will not be getting OneUI 2.0, so youre stuck with Andriod 9 and OneUI 1.0. And it doesnt get better, because if you go to an offical Samsung store, they will very likely not sell you any case for your Galaxy A8. Peronally, ive only ever seen 4 cases for this phone. 2 flip casewallet cases which are the same but just a different material, a leather regular case, a plastic case that comes with the phone, and a flip case that Samsung apparently sells. But overall, if youre looking for a new phone now that doesnt break the bank, and youre looking at the Galaxy A8, just get the Galaxy A50.

The glass screen cracked for no known reason. The phone is in a protective case. I did not drop it. I discovered the cracks at the end of a day. Samsung said this was impossible, and that the phone must have experienced an impact. I have had 3 phones in my life, used them for years each, and never had this problem before. I plan to go back to Motorola or Nokia. Their phones lasted for years.Other than that, the phone is fine. It is useable for now, but I do not know for how long.

The phone is as promised except the charger which is huge along with the adspter for European socket. The transfer of money took a cery long time and the delivery as well. Its true I made the payment on Saturday but after that it took 2 weeks for everything to be processed and my item to be shipped which I understand now is from U.K. I got items delivered from China in 2 weeks. I hoped I could get the item just in time for my wifes birthday but got it a week after…the prices are very good but you need to be prepaired to wait if you are outside of U.K. That being said I will also buy my future phone from here but this time I know I need to wait but in my case it will be ok.
