As a previous Gh4 user I use lumix cameras for music video productions, documentaries, PR. This camera is a huge leap forward The image quality is simply stunning, in built 5 qxis stabilisation is something I never thought Id use as I often use a steady cam gimbal, however it even improves these types of shots. 4k 60p is incredible as it allows me to create more cinematic shots and keep to the highest resolution. However if users arent ready to jump to 4k the HD footage coming out of this camera is beautiful, far superior to the gh4. Low light performance is average, definitely better than the gh4, not near sonys low light performance, however the image quality and features are far superior than any of sonys consumer series cameras. My only regret is not getting a kit lens with this camera Panasonic you have listened to your consumers and you have delivered… a massive thank you for setting the benchmark again for other manufacturers.

Great product, excellent shipping. I ordered on a Thursday afternoon just before 1pm, it was on my door at 9am on Friday. Anyone looking at this product already knows what the GH5 is. Its a great camera,. The Leica 1260 is a great lens. Although I prefer fixed apature lenses,. The 2.8 4 is still relatively fast. The camera bag is decent for just one camera with lens attached, and room for a couple extra batteries. The tripod is a well made tripod comparable to any other in the 100150 price range. I like the fact that the ball head has a separate pan adjustment. 4 batteries will get any job done. I can record in full HD for over 2.5 hours on a single charge. That translates to over 90gb, so a card swap and a battery change will do. The 32gb uhs2 card is nice, but I would have preferred a larger capacity. Over all, price cant be beat. Check out my youtube channel to see this camera used for live stream in low light. Search Ground Zero Scott on YouTube. Ill add a video unboxing later

I have the GH1 and GH2, shot many pro jobs and family events on them. I skipped the 3 and the 4 and went straight to 5. And I was not disappointed. The question is what this camera cant do. On the first day I got it, I used it to sub in for my professional camera on a news shoot. I got a couple of interviews that went on the air that day, along with some tracking shots using the stabilizer. The next day I went straight for the 6k photo mode. My son had a football game and I began testing it out. Blew me away. He got an INT on the other side of the field far away but I got it all at 30fps, 18 megs and picked out the moment of peak action and got some nice ones of the runback. I was using the original 14140 Panny lens from the GH1 I then used the slow mo, which was beautiful. A little hard to figure out the mode at first and with so many settings it can be a little confusing. I am following the autofocus issue which IMHO is a non issue. It focuses quickly and very quickly depending on the mode. I use the single area mode and just make the target area large and havent had any problems. For my professional work, I always use manual focus anyway. Still testing it out but this is an incredible tool for pros and amateurs alike. Still trying to find its limits.

I have been using a GH4 to fill in a third point of view between a pair of DVX200s. With the upgrade to a GH5 I now have a waveform monitor. Also I am getting familiar with the multiple focal plan feature of the DVX200 and was thrilled to see it on the GH5. If the GH5 is lacking, it is in having built in ND filtering. But that is easily overcome with a Variable ND Filter. If you plan on shooting shallow depth of field outdoors it is an essential. I had a bit of a surprise today when I tried to import test shots into Premier Pro and got audio only. A quick visit to Adobes support site and I found this, The CC 2017.1 release of Premiere Pro does not officially support 422 10bit files from the Panasonic GH5 I set the camera to 420 8 bit and everything worked fine. I am certain Adobe will work it out at some point, but if this is a problem for you, be advised. The nice thing about 420 8bit is that it supports Variable Frame Rate. I tested that feature in HD at 180 fps. It works great on slowing down a golf swing to create dramatic scenes. The reviews about focus tracking had me concerned. When I got my GH4 I watched it overshoot focus enough that I rarely used auto focus. So, I also upgraded my 12135 f2.8 to the VII model. Not much difference, but I wanted to give the system all the latest technology to fix the autofocus issue. I did some testing with a pair of Vocus cards at different distances. I set the autofocus matrix to its smallest. Then I pulled it from one card to the next and pressed AF. I got deadly clean transitions without a hint of overshoot. Next test was to see how it would do in holding focus on the card when the camera moved. I put the camera on 9 rails running straight at the Vocus card. Then moved in and out to see what happened. I was shocked, it was not tracking the card as I moved. I pulled out the advanced manual and engaged focus tracking. Perfection. Be prepared to spend some time learning the GH5.

Using primarily for gimbal and car mounts as well as run and gun. Bought the GH5S over the S5 because it has full size hdmi and all intra 400 mbps codec. Chose GH5S over S1 because it has OLPF all intra 400 mbps and is smaller. Got this over the BGH1 because it has a screen and EVF. With a speedbooster on the one point eight crop factor you will not miss full frame. The GH5S is a workhorse and is not afraid of the dark.

One look at the specs and youll know if this camera is meant for you. Theres no IBIS, Autofocus is an afterthought, and youre missing that full frame magic seriously, you already own a speedbooster, youre not missing out on much more. If those dont bother you then youre left with an amazing 4K cinema camera. The image quality is gorgeous and feels a bit more organic than the GH5, which may be due to the incredibly powerful oversampling the GH5 does which is a great thing depending on your usage. The feature set is fantastic, improving on the alreadysubstantial GH5. The low light arguably outhandles color in adverse conditions where the Sony A7SII, while less noisy, doesnt retain color information as well. IBIS is an amazing feature on the GH5, if you use your camera without a support system its hard to go back to anything else, but the quality you gain from the GH5S makes the price, and the lack of 5Axis smoothness, a much easier pill to swallow.

New exposure tools, 10bit 4K, 5Axis Stabilization, the GH5 is a beast I tested the Metabones Speed Booster XL 0.64x Nikon Fmount Adapter on the GH5 and found slight vignetting with the Sigma 1835mm f1.8 Nikon FMount. Zooming in with the lens to about 20mm eliminates the vignetting. My zoom test also found no locking upfreezing issues with camera. You can check it out in my unboxing video here httpsyoutu.berRZaRtY2j64 Note Many people have experienced issues with the Metabones Speedbooster Sigma 1835mm combo on the Canon mount. I believe the Nikon Fmount is the reason I did not have issues. Unlike the Canon mount which is primarily all electronic connection the Nikon mount utilizes a mechanical linkage. Unfortunately, this does not work with the autofocus feature in the GH5. It does however allow the in camera 5Axis Stabilization to work with the lens.

I cant say enough about this camera. Im an proficient photographer, video producer. This camera is more than what I need. I have so many options of lens and other attachments to accommodate any situation. This is not a new camera but new to me. I chose this over the Sony a7ii because of the ability to use so many different manufacturers equipment with this camera. Also, because of the price with similar features. The warranty at the time of purchase said it could be extended 3 years but have yet to receive confirmation of that. This was also a factor. Purchase this camera.

Despite its midrange pixel count, the Lumix GH5, a pro camera, is exactly what I was looking for and probably great for 90 of pro and high end amateurs. This is my 4th Lumix mirrorless camera, and It is amazing how much tech and improvements are in each new model. Many, I dont use, but its good to know that Panasonic is on the cutting edge of technology. Also, with video specs that rival many standalone video cameras, this is the best of both worlds. With the latest 43rds sensor, both videos and stills are sharp and accurate. In camera stabilization, along with a number of lenses that have built in stabilization, you can hand hold low light shots like never before. Also many lenses have legendary Leica glass. Im extremely happy with the decision to fork over nearly 2 grand. If you are a serious photographer, you will find that this is in the lower end of the pro cameras.

I have been a Nikon user for twenty years and I realized that I need to do more video work about half year ago. Since then I had been debating the Nikon D850, Sony 7A III and GH5. When I was almost sold for Gh5 and had BH to exchange it due to minor problems, the GH5S was on the market. I waited till February and received the new GH5S, however, the first copy gave me double images in a single photo shot. then BH sent me the 2nd copy and I took it in action during spring break on Cruise. Man, it is amazing on the low light image and the slow motion 240fps feature just blows me away. I used it on ikan gimbal and it works great to follow my subjects. Timelapse feature also is fun. I just left if on at my balcony and it did its own work while I was away. And thanks to the unlimited power from Panasonic power adaptor that I can record timelapse for at least half of day. I should try to push it longer. I dont want to get rid of my Nikon gear and I am waiting for nikons eye focus feature on the next model. And sonys lens is just too big. To me, it is a must have. And I am very happy about the size of my MFT gear. Again, thank BH, for the best service and always. Attached photo data With Olympus M.714mm F2.8 lens at 14mm, ISO 400, 0.3EV, F2.8, 160s.
